The account

For eight months ANZAC, Allied and Ottoman soldiers bled into these ridges above the Dardanelles. The trenches of Quinn's Post and The Nek still scar the scrub, and surveys keep turning up the small archaeology of endurance, cartridges, water cans, medical glass. A peninsula that is one vast war grave and one nation's founding memory.
