The account
The conquistadors loaded themselves with an empire's gold and ran for the causeways in the dark. The lake took the greedy first. The city above the lakebed is now one of the largest on Earth, and every metro excavation and sewer trench digs through the night the treasure drowned. One bar has already surfaced. The rest is under traffic.
