The account
For forty years there was a ship in the dunes that nobody could explain, too old, too strange, possibly Portuguese, possibly proof of Europeans a quarter-century before Cook. Then the coast simply put it away. Victoria once offered a reward for finding it again. The dunes have not accepted.
