Workmen breaking up a burial mound in Wales found a crushed shell of gold that proved to be a ceremonial cape, beaten from one sheet four thousand years ago.
How it was found
- Workmen quarrying stone from a Bronze Age burial mound in Wales in 1833 found a crushed shell of gold; pieces were shared out as scrap before anyone realized it was a ceremonial cape and pieced it back together.
