The account
Three brothers digging clay for tiles struck what they took for a strange whistle, then another, then a gleam. They had found nine vessels of solid 24-karat gold, a Thracian king's drinking set buried for over two thousand years. It remains Bulgaria's most famous treasure, gold so pure it looks wet in the light.
