The account
A volcanic fang in the empty Atlantic, a deathbed map, and a Victorian yachtsman who believed it enough to dig for a season. Knight found landslides where the marks should have been, which proves nothing either way. The Brazilian navy keeps the island now. The mountain keeps the rest.
Leads, where the trail points now
- Where the trail goes cold: A dying pirate's chart sent E.F. Knight there in 1889; he dug beneath Sugarloaf for months and sailed home to write a classic about failing. That is where any serious search begins.
- What you are chasing is A pirate's church plunder from Lima. Work the documented record of Trindade Island Treasure back to primary sources and separate what is attested from folklore before you commit time or money.
- The ground: A Brazilian naval post, landing requires permission.
