Code of Conduct

This is the standard every Fellow agrees to. It protects the land, the record, and each other.

  1. Be real. Use your genuine experience. Do not impersonate others or invent credentials.
  2. Respect the law and the land. Follow all applicable laws and land rules. When unsure, do not dig, detect, or remove.
  3. No trespassing. Never enter private or restricted land without explicit permission.
  4. No protected-site coordinates. Do not post precise locations of protected, sensitive, burial, or at-risk sites.
  5. No illegal digging or salvage guidance. Do not share instructions for illegal excavation, diving, or salvage.
  6. No harassment. Treat Fellows, communities, and descendants with respect. No harassment or hate.
  7. Mark speculation clearly. Label theories and guesses as such. Do not present speculation as established fact.
  8. Cite sources for factual claims. When you assert a fact, back it with a source others can check.
  9. Respect descendant and local communities. Honor the interests of Indigenous, descendant, and local communities.
  10. Report significant finds properly. Report finds of historical or cultural significance to the proper authorities.
  11. Leave no trace. Fill your holes, carry out trash, and leave the ground whole.
  12. Consequences for violations. Violations may lead to content removal, loss of rank, or account suspension.
