The account
Fabergé made fifty Imperial eggs for the last two Tsars; the Revolution scattered them, and seven have never been seen again. They were real, photographed, inventoried, the Hen with Sapphire Pendant, the Cherub with Chariot, and then the records stop in the chaos of 1922. One thought lost for a century surfaced at a Midwest scrap-metal dealer's table in 2014. The others are out there, in attics and vaults, waiting to be recognised.
